LINTHICUM, Md.—Versant Health, the managed eye health and vision plan company formed via the combination of Superior Vision and Davis Vision in 2017, has expanded its sales team with the addition of three regional vice presidents of sales. The new VPs are Tony Giumetti, Tom Koebel and Tom Mays, according to an announcement on Monday. Each regional vice president of sales is responsible for the management, oversight and strategy of new business commercial sales, including both the Davis Vision and Superior Vision offerings, in his respective region, the announcement noted. “We are delighted to welcome these three experienced sales professionals to Versant Health,” Versant senior vice president of sales Tom Luchetta said in the announcement. “Our new regional VPs will implement the company’s mission to help members enjoy the wonders of sight through healthy eyes and vision.” Giumetti brings more than 15 years of experience in insurance sales management to his position. Most recently, he was the national vice president of sales and marketing at BEST Life & Health, according to the announcement. Koebel comes to Versant Health with 25 years of experience in the insurance industry, including sales management. Most recently, he was the vice president of client management at Aetna Dental & Vision. Mays joins Versant Health from Humana, where he was the national director of sales over the field marketing organization channel. For the eight years prior to that, he was Humana’s market director for the states of Arkansas and Oklahoma. Luchetta added that the expertise of the new executives “in garnering new business and expanding market share will be instrumental as Versant Health continues to grow. Their backgrounds in health and vision and their industry relationships will serve as an asset as they develop and expand the company’s relationships with brokers and prospective clients.” Davis Vision and Superior Vision came together through a deal announced in August 2017, as VMAIL reported. The deal involved HVHC Inc. division of Highmark Inc. selling its Davis Vision business to the private equity firm Centerbridge Partners, which combined Davis with its portfolio company Superior Vision. Highmark acquired a minority interest in the combined Davis-Superior managed vision care company, according to the companies’ announcement. Versant Health serves more than 33 million members nationwide. Through its Davis Vision plans and Superior Vision plans, the company provides vision and eye health solutions that range from routine vision benefits to medical management.
