Omega’s newest James-Bond themed watch combines the enduring appeal of the British Secret Service agent with cutting-edge metallurgy and a few interesting design details.

The Seamaster Diver 300M James Bond Numbered Edition in platinum-gold was released Tuesday by Omega. It pays tribute to the long relationship the luxury brand has had with the film series. Omega has been equipping James Bond with its Seamaster timepieces since “GoldenEye” in 1995.

The 42 mm case of the watch is crafted in durable platinum-gold, with the same alloy used for a plate on its side, engraved with the number of the special edition. The same material is also used for the polished-brushed buckle of the watch’s black leather strap.

The black ceramic bezel ring has a diving scale created with platinum in positive relief. A black ceramic dial was given a spiraling gun barrel design in 18k white gold.

As part of the Omega James Bond collection that was launched in 2019, this watch also includes a hidden number 50 within the Super-LumiNova of the 10 o’clock index. This is a reference to the 50th anniversary of the James Bond film, “On Her Majesty's Secret Service.” A 007 logo is located on the dial at 7 o’clock on the white enamel minute track. The hands, indexes and Bond family coat-of-arms at 12 o’clock are all made of 18k white gold.

The sapphire caseback reveals a second Bond family coat-of-arms, which has been laser-engraved and filled with platinum with a hand-engraved finish.

The watch is powered by the in-house Co-Axial Master Chronometer Caliber 8807 automatic movement, with METAS certification. It’s resistant to magnetic fields reaching 15,000 gauss. The movement also contains free sprung-balance with silicon balance spring, and automatic winding in both directions. The gold rotor and balance bridge are made of 18k Sedna gold (a proprietary rose gold alloy) and finished in Geneva waves in an arabesque pattern.

The watch comes with a black leather strap with platinum stitching. It also come with its own “Globe-Trotter” suitcase, bound by NATO-inspired straps. Inside, an additional black rubber strap is included.

The new timepiece is available for $51,900 plus tax at Omega boutiques nationwide.
