Christian Louboutin is mourning the loss of one of his dear friends and longtime muses, Dolly Parton. The shoe designer took to his brand’s Instagram page to share a heartfelt message and tribute to the singer, who passed away on Tuesday.

Louboutin shared two photos of himself with the Emmy winner that the brand confirmed to FN were from his personal archive. In one of the images, shared to his stories, he was wearing a T-shirt with her face on it while posing for the snap. “My dear Dolly, you have been since we met a true friend, a partner in sweet crimes and laughs, and ALWAYS a complete inspiration due to your heart, your deep beliefs and your multiple faiths,” he wrote.
“I just cannot believe that I WILL never see, eat, or speak with you ever again…But one thing is sure:
I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU,” he added, quoting one of her most popular songs.

The beloved country music legend died from cancer on Tuesday at the age of 80. Her representatives confirmed that she passed away peacefully following a brief battle with the illness. Since then, there has been an outpouring of messages and tributes from her family, close friends and people in the music industry and beyond whom she inspired.

The “Head Over High Heels” singer was known for her over-the-top glamorous style, which she always paired with a dramatic and stylish pair of high heels. Throughout her career, she favored peep-toe pumps, particularly backless mule silhouettes in clear vinyl and metallic finishes, that often featured rhinestone embellishments and cutouts. She was often spotted wearing Christian Louboutin’s designs, showcasing the brand’s signature bright red sole and the towering stiletto heels.

She had a deep love for his high heels, and that inspired Louboutin to name a line of his shoes after her — The Dolly collection. Over the years, the shoe designer has named a variety of shoe designs after her. The Dolly Alta 160mm platform pumps, which pay homage to the singer with their high heels and lofty platforms.
The platform shoes have become one of the brand’s most recognizable styles. The retro Me Dolly mule was also inspired by and named after Parton, and it was recently reworked with a new heel height, which has seen a rise in popularity this year.
