Monica Barbaro, the Academy Award-nominated actress who plays the iconic singer-songwriter Joan Baez in “A Complete Unknown,” has been tapped as a Dior ambassador.

The 34-year-old actress is said to embody the “elegance and audacity of Dior style, a continually reinvented femininity.” The alliance “celebrates the special ties that unite Dior and culture in all forms more than ever,” according to the fashion brand.

In her ongoing role, she will represent the women’s fashion collections designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri, creative director of Dior.

“Since I was a kid, I was inspired by fashion and its evolution as an art form. Dior has held an iconic place in my imagination. I am so honored to be joining a house that is the gold standard in elegance, craftsmanship and celebration of the feminine,” Barbaro said.

Last month Barbaro earned her first Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress for “A Complete Unknown,” in which she plays Baez opposite Timothée Chalamet’s Bob Dylan. For the press tour for the movie, the actress worked with Dior. To the New York premiere, she wore a Dior cruise 2021 ivory lace dress that had a 1970s feel that felt evocative of folk music.

An NYU Tisch School of the Arts graduate, Barbaro’s breakthrough came with a supporting role in “Top Gun: Maverick,” which she followed with a starring role in the Netflix action comedy series “Fubar.”

Last July, Barbaro was also named an ambassador for Bulgari, which, like Dior, is owned by LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton.
