Everything you need to know about 6 Moncler 1017 Alyx 9SM

This winter, you’re going to see Moncler Genius’ collab with Matthew M. Williams pretty much everywhere.

Created to welcome the most creative minds on the international fashion and design scene into the Moncler universe, the brand’s latest Genius project is a collaboration with 1017 Alyx 9MS. The resulting 6 Moncler 1017 Alyx 9SM collection sees the aesthetic and design codes of the two brands come together through technical jackets, functional accessories and innovative footwear.

Of course, technicality and experimentation are cornerstones of Alyx founder Matthew M. Williams’ design practice, something we see in his groundbreaking work at Givenchy, where he reinterprets the French fashion house's precious archive. It’s an avant-garde process of research that reaches its peak in his personal project, 1017 Alyx 9SM, a brand through which the designer furthers his experiments in the hi-tech field.

This approach has led Matthew to not only produce layered and versatile garments and accessories, but also carefully select companies to collaborate with — those who share his love of technical research and innovation. It’s exactly upon those values that the creative alliance between Moncler and 1017 Alyx 9SM was developed.

In continuity with the layered silhouettes of the previous Genius collections, 6 Moncler 1017 Alyx 9SM focuses on the relationship between organic and technical, city and nature, urban and wild — combining formal research with carefully selected materials. The result is a range of jackets featuring technical fabrics associated with Moncler (lightweight nylons, ripstop and neoprene), alongside materials like wool, leather and sheepskin; blending the boundary between the inside and outside of the garment and between sportswear and urbanwear. The colour palette works in the same way: from hints of the metropolis with black and metallic grey, to lilacs and browns of the natural world.
