Fendi discovers freedom in Rome’s skyline for Spring 2022

Silvia Venturini Fendi looks beyond the confines of lockdown for the brand's latest menswear collection

During lockdown, Silvia Venturini Fendi took inspiration from the vistas surrounding Fendi’s headquarters inside the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana. The men’s Spring 2022 line takes form from the geography and meteorology of Rome—its skies, its architecture, its hills and horizons.

The collection reflects the city’s dynamic topography. Mineral shades and earthy tones are accented by lemons, lavenders, and limes. Pistachios blend with pastels of Roman skies and Mediterranean seas. The air of freedom emerges also in the cuts and accessories with a distinctive seductive quality. Fendi maintains its refined sensibility while breaking from Italy’s traditionalist reputation with bare midriffs and delicate, almost unnoticeable belly chains.

Directed by Nico Vascellari, the accompanying film is dominated by the allure of Rome, as models move through the light of the day into the night’s shadows inside the Palazzo’s Rationalist architecture—embodying the grandeur of Rome with a lightness in spirit.
