ESCAPE TO ROME THROUGH FENDI’S ETHEREAL VIDEO
Meditative shots of soaring clouds, brutal geometric architecture, and pastel colors transport viewers out of their daily realities to the playful and abstract world of Fendi in Fendi Men's Spring/Summer 2022 campaign. The collection, designed by the house’s Artistic Director of Accessories and Menswear Silvia Venturini Fendi, aims to serve as both an escape from the real world and as a “reflection on watching the world from above.” To capture this, Italian artist Nico Vascellari overlays clips of models walking along the cement rooftop of the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana, Fendi’s Roman headquarters, underneath atmospheric skies. Mirrors reflect and multiply the models, providing multiple points of view within a single moment. Taken all together, viewers are immersed in the sublime Fendi universe as the collection comes alive before their very eyes.

The luxury clothing itself is sharply tailored, with an abundance of clean lines, geometric shapes, and utilitarian details. Precise suit jackets, cleanly cropped tops, and sliced-off ties are all visible throughout the campaign. A range of materials, from linen silk suiting to jacquard denim to plush crochet tees, create a diverse array of garments. The color palette of the clothing reflects the ethereal skies and clean architecture depicted in the video. Fendi’s signature earth tones like ice blue, lavender, and pistachio are all present, but also contrasted with graphite, slate, and travertine.

Fendi innovatively pulls a cartographic map of Rome from its archive to create the abstract FENDI Earth topographic print visible throughout the collection. This serves to further immerse the viewer into Fendi Land. Iconic pieces such as the Peekaboo are present, but there is also the new Fendiness backpack with its recognizable utility buckle and crossbody silhouette.
The advertising campaign consists of seven single and seven double-page visuals as well as a video. The eyewear collection (including the new FENDI Sky sunglasses) and the FENDI x ARENA collaboration (the swimming goggles and a swimming cap) are present.
