Kim Jones and Victoire de Castellane unite for Dior high jewellery

A unique bracelet for the Dior Winter 2022 – 2023 men’s collection epitomises Dior design codes

Dior’s sartorial design codes are translated into high jewellery in the hands of Kim Jones and Victoire de Castellane, who have joined forces once again on a unique piece of haute joaillerie for the French maison’s Winter 2022 – 2023 men’s collection. The Dior high jewellery bracelet draws the house’s unmistakable initials in white gold, diamonds and emeralds, in an intricate geometric play.

The bracelet’s graphic design is reminiscent of the art deco codes that have long inspired the brand, with both artistic director of Dior menswear Kim Jones and creative director of Dior Joaillerie Victoire de Castellane keen to pay tribute to the house and its founder, Christian Dior.

Kim Jones on a Dior high jewellery collaboration

Working together with de Castellane was a fruitful experience for Jones, who here celebrates the art of collaboration. ‘It is always a rich experience to work with another designer,’ he says. ‘We share our personal vision and bring our inspiration to create something that will speak to both of us but also to the customer. I love working with people, it’s how I get energy and it’s so natural for me,’ he adds.

Technically accomplished, the new bracelet juxtaposes single emeralds against a smattering of diamonds in a subversive nod to the savoir-faire of the artisans behind it.

The sharply drawn piece makes a contemporary foil for the new high jewellery collection, ‘Galons Dior’, which also links to the house’s fashion. Rings, earrings, bracelets and necklaces interpret the decorative ribbons of haute couture – the galons – into bold forms. Casually asymmetrical, as if just snipped with scissors, the jewels edge diamond lattices with sapphires, rubies or emeralds. For the first time, men’s brooches and cufflinks are included in the 81 pieces, which encompass all the lightness and fluidity of a slip of fabric.
