Parfums Christian Dior Names New General Counsel
The appointment was revealed by Véronique Courtois, president and chief executive officer, on Wednesday.
Sophie Gilg has been named general counsel for Parfums Christian Dior and the LVMH beauty division.
Her appointment was revealed by Véronique Courtois, president and chief executive officer, on Wednesday, although her new role officially took effect Oct. 1.
In this position, Gilg will head the legal, ethics and compliance strategy and report directly to Courtois.
“I am delighted to have Sophie by my side, who has all the qualities needed to guide our legal, ethics, and compliance teams,” Courtois said in an internal statement shared with WWD. “I am convinced that she will be able to unite our talents and that, under her leadership, our teams will continue to combine excellence and close partnership in the service of a shared vision. Her appointment strengthens our organization and extends the work carried out in recent months to structure the division and support the desirability of our maisons while driving the future growth of beauty in an increasingly challenging market.”
Gilg has served as legal director for the general counsel and a member of the management committee for Parfums Christian Dior for the last four years. She first joined the legal department at LVMH Group in 2004 and subsequently acted as legal director for Hublot, Zenith and Tag Heuer from 2006 to 2021.
The internal hire arrives a little over a month after Alexandre Oulès was named chief operating officer of the LVMH beauty division and less than a week after the opening of the new Dior Beauty boutique in Illinois. Located in Oakbrook Center, the new space pays homage to the couturier-perfumer’s birthplace with a fragrance discovery experience that’s anchored by a selection of one-of-a-kind olfactory silhouettes named La Collection Privée Christian Dior. The display sits at the heart of the store, surrounded by skin care, makeup, customizable fragrance trunks, cases and caps, as well as a curated assortment of fashion accessories, from sunglasses to scarves.
