Rhode‘s internet-breaking Lip Case is in for some friendly competition, as Dior just launched its own, premium take: the Holiday Gift 2026 Edition Médaillon Lip Balm, which sold out directly on the fashion house’s site but remains in stock at Ulta (where 300-plus shoppers have purchased it in the last few hours), Nordstrom (caveat: only available for in-store pickup), and Dillard’s.
“This is Gen Z marketing at its finest,” Anne-Liese Prem, head of cultural insights and trends at digital brand-building agency Loop, says on LinkedIn, “turning beauty objects into phone accessories, everyday objects into status symbols, and your iPhone into a beauty billboard.”
Influencers, naturally, got there first, but now beauty lovers around the world also want a piece of the pie — vying to get their hands on this little luxury, which allows one to apply Dior’s popular, hydrating, long-wear lip balm on the go while treating the device they can’t live without to a touch of vintage-inspired glamour.
The Médaillon‘s ornate, gilded case is topped by a coquettish bow and decorated with a frame-like border — elements that lend it a kind of “Regency Romance” aesthetic, the same one that punctuated Jonathan Anderson’s men’s spring/summer 2026 collection and continues to drive Dior’s visual language to this day.
We like that the Crystal Pink balm shade inside is universally flattering, boasting a glittery, perfect-for-the-holidays finish. The product can be easily layered on with just your fingers or a makeup brush intended for lips, if you have the time.
